One of the best ways to convey the themes and cultural concepts in the literature of any country to the audience is adaptation in the performing arts. Among these arts, animation has a large audience. Animation productions in the world are divided into three categories: short, feature film and TV series, and from this, many short works are produced in the field of adaptation. The author is looking for this goal, what were the capacities in the short animation for adaptation and what models are there among the producing artists? This research, with its descriptive and analytical nature, studying various sources (Sanders, Wagner and Dudley Andrew's adaptation opinions) and analyzing the selected animations of four important festivals in Japan, Tehran, France and America in the last ten years, deals with the most important short animation adaptations and the formed patterns. The results show that short animations have unique capacities to communicate with the audience of this century in the way of transmitting literature. The four main patterns of short animation adaptation are: book animation, dependent animation, semi-dependent animation and inspired animation. The most faithful type of adaptation in the book animation type and the most experimental type of short animation both in terms of form and content are summarized in the field of inspired animations. It is better for policymakers and managers to adapt different sources in the field of short animation in the first two ways to reconcile more audiences, especially children and teenagers, with Iranian literature.
