This article adopts a contemporary approach to comparative studies in the field of adaptation analysis by examining the endings of Here Without Me(2011), directed by Bahram Tavakoli, and The Glass Menagerie(1944), written by Tennessee Williams. Within this approach, the social, cultural, and historical contexts surrounding the production of the source and adapted texts are regarded as essential components of comparative adaptation studies. The research addresses two principal questions: first, what are the similarities and differences between the endings of Here Without Me and The Glass Menagerie? Second, how can these endings be comparatively interpreted in light of the contexts in which the two works were created and produced? The primary objective of this study is to demonstrate the significance of contextual analysis in the interpretation of adapted works and to argue that the context of production is as important as the texts themselves. Accordingly, adaptation cannot be fully understood without considering the inseparable relationship between a text and the socio-cultural conditions in which it is produced. Methodologically, this research employs a qualitative descriptive-analytical approach based on library research and film analysis.
